deer head park
Deer Head Park was an old house on a remote peninsula that, in various forms, had stood for over 200 years.
Following an earthquake in 2024 it was mortally wounded and torn down.
After the quake, and before the demolition, a few drawings were made that attempted to capture that fateful tremble.
A few hundred kilometres to the north, on an island, Kikuchi-san has an old printing shop where he insists on using his less than polished and out dated offset machine.
His few remaining clients are local shops that have him print gift calendars. A tradition, ubiquitous in Japan, that has long fallen prey to the convenience of inkjet.
This series of prints are the first, and probably last, non time telling object to emerge from Kikuchi-san’s machine.
